Mari-Liis Rüütsalu is the CEO of the largest Baltic digital media company Ekspress Grupp and Chair of the Management Board. Among other things, Mari-Liis Rüütsalu belongs to all the Group‘s media companies‘ supervisory boards to stay up-to-date on their work in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Mari-Liis entered the media landscape 10 years ago, when she took on the management of Estonia‘s largest news portal Delfi. In the past 10 years, media companies have been in constant turmoil – shift in business model, the onslaught of social media, advertising money moving to platforms, the advent of online journalism and a complete shift, adaption of journalists to the new conditions etc. In addition, she is an active spokesperson on issues of national importance – the domination of platforms tax- and liability-free on the local markets, sustainability of media companies and the digital revolution, and many other topics that require attention in a changing world for journalism to be able to fulfil its role in society.
